PLANNING ADVICE
Thailand entry: passport, visa and TDAC
Passport, visa eligibility and arrival declaration are separate checks. Find the official portals here.

Which documents do you need?
For Italian citizens with an ordinary passport, check at least six months’ validity on entry, at least two blank pages and the document’s condition. Prepare your first accommodation address and onward-travel documentation. Digital copies help with organisation and assistance but do not replace the original passport when required. These rules are presented for Italian citizens: other nationalities and travel documents must check their case with the relevant Thai embassy.
Do you need a tourist visa?
Not every trip requires a visa: Italian ordinary-passport holders may qualify for visa exemption for short tourist visits, subject to its conditions. Check duration, purpose and previous entries before booking. Do not extend that assumption to work, study or long stays. Confirm the current allowance on official sites rather than relying on an old page with a different number of days. If a visa is needed, use Thai e-Visa and the embassy’s instructions.
What is TDAC?
The Thailand Digital Arrival Card is the digital arrival declaration, separate from a visa and not a replacement for one. The official portal is tdac.immigration.go.th and submission is free. Immigration Bureau FAQs say to submit within the three-day window before arrival, including arrival day. Check whether your entry requires it; transit without entering follows the official exceptions. Avoid intermediaries presenting a service fee as a compulsory government charge.
Organise checks in this order
Check passport and entry eligibility for nationality, purpose and stay length first. Then prepare journey details and first accommodation for the arrival declaration. The dedicated TDAC guide linked below covers submission, confirmation and corrections. A saved trip on this platform replaces none of these requirements.
Your final check before flying
Before flying, reread entry guidance, check transit requirements and make sure tickets, accommodation and submitted information agree. Your permitted stay is the one authorised on entry; check it when you arrive. The platform plans your trip, while admission and stay conditions are determined by the authorities, not your saved itinerary.
