PLANNING ADVICE
Thailand with children: choosing bases and a comfortable pace
Fewer hotel changes, manageable transfers and breaks: plan around your family’s ages and needs.
Choose the pace before attractions
Start with ages, routines, luggage and tolerance for transfers. As an editorial approach, compare fewer bases with longer stays. A successful day can contain one visit and free time; every gap need not be filled. After a long arrival, allow time for food, rest and settling in.
Check accommodation details
Compare room, beds, any cot, lift, beach access and distance from useful services. Ask directly whether what you need is available on your dates. A pool photo does not certify suitability for your family. If cooking or laundry matters, include those facilities in your base choice.
Pushchairs, cars and boats
Check actual routes: steps, pavements and boarding can change a visit’s feasibility. For car transfers, request a suitable child seat and arrangement in advance with supplier confirmation. For boats, ask about access, children’s equipment and service conditions. Do not rely solely on a family-friendly label.
Health, meals and disruption
Discuss health preparation with a paediatrician or qualified professional for your route and circumstances. Check assistance and insurance for every family member. Plan meals, breaks and a nearby indoor alternative; confirm availability of specific products with accommodation. This guide supports logistics rather than prescribing vaccines or treatment.
