Bangkok: where to stay, what to see and how long to spend
Bangkok is a city base for temples, neighbourhoods, markets and river life. Choose it for a city stop; for a beach-focused holiday, pair it with a seaside base rather than extending the city stay without a reason.

Why choose this base
Choose Bangkok when you want cultural visits, neighbourhood walks and different evenings without changing accommodation every night. The Grand Palace and river fit one part of your stay; Siam and other modern areas deserve another day. Do not choose a base only for its distance from the airport: look at connections to the places you want to visit.
Where to stay
For a temple-focused stay, consider the historic centre. To combine neighbourhoods, consider accommodation near a BTS or MRT station, checking the actual walk to its entrance. A cheap room far from your activities may mean more transfers: compare location with your plan before comparing price.
How long to spend
As an editorial starting point, consider 3 full days. Arrival, departure and any transfers are additional: nights depend on your schedule. Reserve the full day for a substantial excursion and reduce other activities. This is a suggestion to adapt, not a required duration.
What to see after choosing accommodation
Group Grand Palace and Wat Pho into a historic-centre day, then use a separate outing for Wat Arun and Chinatown. A neighbourhood walk, shopping or a rooftop can complete the stay according to your interests. Open our Bangkok in 3 days guide for a daily outline and maps to adapt.
Before confirming
Check the time between the airport and accommodation and between your accommodation and visits. Verify palace and temple access, tickets and dress rules through official channels. Check market opening days and rooftop venue conditions. Allow time for heat, queues and the return journey: visit times are planning estimates, not guaranteed durations.
