Krabi: where to stay, what to see and how long to spend
Krabi suits limestone scenery, coast and boat excursions. The name refers to a province: before booking, distinguish Krabi Town, Ao Nang and Railay because their bases and transport differ.

Why choose this base
Krabi makes sense if you want coastal scenery and different landscapes while leaving room for weather and sea conditions. A base near boat departures can simplify excursions; a town base may suit mainland days better. Decide which of these stays matters most before booking your accommodation.
Where to stay
Consider Ao Nang for services and departures on sea excursions. Krabi Town offers an urban stay to consider for markets and mainland outings. Railay requires boat access: confirm the transfer and luggage arrangements with your accommodation. Do not book simply because the description says “Krabi”.
How long to spend
As an editorial starting point, consider 4 full days. Arrival, departure and any transfers are additional: nights depend on your schedule. Reserve the full day for a substantial excursion and reduce other activities. This is a suggestion to adapt, not a required duration.
What to see after choosing accommodation
Alternate a coastal day with a sea excursion, selecting the route with the operator according to conditions. On the mainland, consider Wat Tham Suea or the Emerald Pool area, without assuming they are next to your beach just because they share a province. Keep a flexible day in case sea conditions prevent the planned outing.
Before confirming
If you choose Railay, confirm the boat connection and arrival times for your accommodation. For island excursions, check the departure point, price inclusions and possible park entrance costs. Weather and sea conditions can change plans: keep at least one flexible day instead of booking every outing consecutively.
