First question: forest or lake?
Khao Sok may mean forest days from the village area or a stay centred on Cheow Lan Lake. These are different experiences, not interchangeable addresses. Before fixing nights, decide which you want and locate the accommodation precisely.
Where to stay
A village room is not a floating lake room. For nights in both, count a genuine move with luggage, road transport and boat. Ask for the exact pier, boarding times, what you can bring and where remaining luggage goes: these details matter more than the package name.
Three days as a suggestion
Consider three full days as an editorial outline for nature and lake time without rushing. With less time, choose one experience. Trekking, caves and water activities require suitable conditions and an appropriate operator: they are not guaranteed add-ons independent of weather.
What to ask before paying
Clarify road transfers, boat, meals, guiding, admission and cancellation terms. Ask the property about phone coverage and electricity if essential to you. For Krabi, Phuket or Gulf islands, count the complete transfer chain and keep departure day light.
