Which island experience do you want?
Koh Phangan does not offer just one atmosphere. The Full Moon Party area and a quiet bay answer different wishes. Decide between events, beach life and quiet: choosing by island name alone may put you in the wrong setting for your stay.
Where to stay
Compare Thong Sala for logistics, Haad Rin when the event is the priority, and other coasts for a quieter stay. Secluded accommodation needs a plan for dinner and getting back. Ask how to reach it from the port with luggage and what transport is available on your dates.
How much time to allow
As an editorial suggestion, allow four full days to explore without changing beaches every hour. Start with one coast, add a village or viewpoint and leave time for the sea. Conditions can change the day: a waterfall does not look the same in every season.
Boat arrival and the next stop
Compare ferries from Samui or the mainland for your dates. If combining Koh Tao, confirm the connection and pier before fixing nights. Do not plan a flight out of Phangan: organise the sea transfer. Leave a prudent buffer before an onward international departure.
